On the way to Los Antiguos, we stopped at Estancia Don Jose near the town of Rio Mayo. This ranch is one of 6 which raise guanacos for their wool. After lunch and a visit with some of the guanacos and a few rheas, we drove to Los Antiguos, a town near the Chilean border and on the shores of Lago Buenos Aires, the 2nd largest lake in South America. Here, we visited the Canon del Rio Pinturas and Cueva de las Manos where we viewed petroglyphs and pictographs dating back at least 9000 years.
